I want to talk about when you die. Now, it’s not a very pleasant subject, but I want to talk about one particular aspect of it. Your tombstone. Okay, I know you may get cremated, or because of your religious views, you may not have a tombstone.
But just humour me, please.
Imagine you do have a tombstone. What’s going to be on your tombstone.
I’ll tell you what’s going to be on mine. On mine, it’s going to be:
She lived passionately.
I decided this some years ago because I thought that’s what I always aim to do, to live passionately, to enjoy life, to enjoy what I do. I try to embrace life, and to be positive and energetic. That sort of sums up my life. She lived passionately. What phrase, what sentence, sums up your life?
And perhaps more importantly, is it what you want to sum up your life? If it’s not, then it may be time for change. If it’s not, it may be because you’re very negative about yourself, so maybe you need to ask some other people. But it’s definitely worth thinking about.
Every so often, I revisit it and think again about what I want to be on my tombstone? When people see what’s written on my tombstone will they nod and think that that sums up my life. I do hope so.
